Go Organic Fabrics!

July 9th-This week your favorite Shop Girl is all over the map with her musings…

So let us start with fashion-

I wanted to remind you of all the Eileen Fisher, Inc. Eco- friendly fabrics that are available both in store and on the web:

Organic Cotton Stretch Canvas (OY) (YC)
Organic Cotton (OJ)
Organic Cotton Fine Jersey (JF)
Organic Easy Jersey (OS)
Organic Cotton Knit (OH)
Organic Fine Cotton Jersey (JK)
Organic Linen (RI)
Woodside Organic Cotton (UN)
Organic Cotton Stretch Twill (KO)
Eco Cotton Blend Jacquard (JC)
Lightweight Organic Cotton Rib (RX)
Hemp (EH)

I am so proud of these fabrics and the movement toward offering a larger array of styles for the end of summer and beginning of fall. I am becoming a dyed-in-the-wool wearer of organic fabric.

My summer shoe from UGG Australia has proved to be a great purchase. I bought the 'Gypsy' style from Nordstrom at the Natick Collection. It was a well priced leather, suede and sheep’s wool thong sandal. I have been wearing it non-stop since May.

I am pleased to say that once again one of my favorite magazines has placement on a product by a company that won the 2007 Eileen Fisher, Inc. Women Business Grant award. To-Go-Ware
www.to-goware.com is a great company that has a product that is a reusable bamboo utensil set. Check it out on page 28 of Natural Health magazine July/August 2008. Order one and stop using plastic forks, spoons, and knives. Plus Stephanie Bernstein of To-Go-Ware is a great example of a young female entrepreneur. Let's support her vision.

Fair Trade Coffee in Central Square-
Central Square Cambridge, MA is your destination (even though Starbucks had a blow up in the media this past week with the announcement of 600 stores they anticipate closing) I know we will still be drinking coffee so we might as well do so with a conscience. Visit the Clear Conscience Café at 581 Mass. Ave in Cambridge. It is a cool concept & I had a great organic sandwich for lunch with my coffee.

On the higher end of dining I recently checked out the new lounge & bar at Blue Ginger in Wellesley. There is a great new lounge menu with fun Asian mini-meals.
Jennifer and I had a great time with our snacks and some wonderful wine. Check it all out at 583 Washington St.

When cooking at home this summer grab your recipe and shopping list and check out www.lionettesmarket.com they are becoming a true “green” grocer. Lionette’s Market 577 Tremont Street Boston 617-778-0360. And more fun for those of us who are foodies Planet Green channel launched Emeril Green – Emeril Lagasse doing it up at Whole Foods with great organic recipes.

Diane and I had a fun night up in Beverly, MA at the North Shore Music Theatre at Dunham Woods. We were there on July 3rd for the Chris Botti show. Check out Diane and Chris post show. Chris and band may find themselves here in September playing with the BSO. Plan to attend as his shows are superb in that he revitalizes the Great American Songbook.
