Happy Valentine's Day 2008

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Eileen Fisher, Inc. has the last of resort product in store currently; On February 19th our March delivery of spring product for 2008 will arrive and be available for purchase. Call the store and schedule a custom styling session with me to jump start your spring purchasing.

Spring is all about layering. I like the use of layers in clothing, jewelry, as well as with makeup, scents, and even house wares. There are never enough layers of the onion to peel back. Who doesn’t love stacking Tiffany & Co. rings?

When I work on wardrobe styling I love to use layers; Layering works on all body types, shapes and sizes, however, the trick is in the proportions. Layers work if you pair accordingly with great attention to the weight of the fabrics that are being mixed. If you typically shy away from layering try a slow entry into layers with a monochromatic look while varying the textures of the fabrics used.

One example at the store: Currently, we have a gold metallic shimmer fabric that I love to work with as a key layer, it works almost as a neutral. Mixing it layered between organic cotton and denim gives it a more casual feel but it can layer between silk and cashmere just as easily for a dressy effect.

The stylist working with layers has to understand the juxtaposition of textures, use of varying color, fabric weight and again proportion. When using this technique you can adapt vintage garments by mixing them with new purchases.
